PROVIDENCE COLLEGE FRIARS (6-9-1 overall/4-6-0 HOCKEY EAST) The Friars (6-9-1 overall/4-6-0 HOCKEY EAST) play their final game before breaking for the exams and the holiday vacations. But before they head into exams week, the Friars host Quinnipiac University tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena. It is the first time these two teams have met, though Providence holds a 3-0-0 series lead against teams from the MAAC conference. PC senior forward Drew Omicioli (West Warwick, R.I.) is the Friars' leading scorer through 16 games this season, scoring eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points in 15 games played. Senior center Peter Fregoe (Massena, N.Y.) is second on the team in scoring, totalling seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. Fregoe is tied in second with junior co-captain Jon DiSalvatore (South Windsor, Conn.), who has scored 10 goals and six assists for 16 points in 16 games. Junior Devin Rask (Parkside, Sask.) is fourth in scoring. He has compiled three goals and nine assists for 12 points. Junior goaltender Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Sask.) has started 15 of the 16 games, logging 865:15. He has posted a 3.33 goals against average, a .900 save percentage and a 5-8-1 record. Freshman goaltender David Cacciola (Burlington, Mass.) has played in two games, starting one game, and has posted a 1.78 goals against average, a .951 save percentage and a 1-1-0 record.
QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY (7-5-1 overall) The Quinnipiac University men's hockey team has posted a 7-5-1 overall record this season and is facing the Providence Friars for the first time. Quinnipiac comes toProvidence after last weekend's 1-0-1 play with a 3-3 tie with Mercyhurst on November 30 and a 3-1 win over Canisuis on December 1st. Leading QU in scoring this season is senior forward Ryan Olsson, who has scored 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points. Junior Brian Herbert is second on the squad in scoring with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points. Junior defenseman Matt Erhart is third with 12 points, scoring two goals and added 10 assists. Both Todd Bennett and Matt Craig each have scored 10 points, Bennett on four goals and six assists and Craig on three goals and seven assists. Freshman goaltender Jamie Holden was played in nine games and posted a 6-2-0 record with a 1.90 goals against average, one shutout and a .926 save percentage.
