PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated, 3-1, in a BIG EAST Conference match on Saturday, October 27 at PC's Alumni Hall.
The Friars (6-17 overall/0-9 BE), were defeated 30-22 in the first game and 30-21 in game two before winning game three, 30-19, before falling in game four, 30-26. Providence senior outside hitter Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) led all players with 19 kills and 18 digs in the loss. Fellow senior outside hitter Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) added 18 kills and 12 digs and freshman middle blocker Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) chipped in with 15 kills, three aces and four blocks.
Syracuse (12-9 overall/3-5 BE) was led by Carol Munger, who totalled 14 kills and three blocks in the win.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, October 28 when they host Notre Dame at 12 noon in Alumni Hall.
