LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The seventh-ranked University of Wisconsin Badgers defeated the ninth-ranked Providence College Friars, 2-1, in women's hockey action on Sunday, January 7 in the opening round of the Lake Placid Tournament at Lake Placid Tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead just 31 seconds into the second period on a goal by Kendra Antony. Friar senior Jessica Tabb evened the game at 1-1 with PC's only goal at the 19:53 mark of the second period.
Wisconsin's Meghan Hunter tallied the game winner for the Badgers with 2:20 remaining in the game.
Friar goaltender Amy Quinlan recorded 22 stops in the loss.
Providence College will return to action in the Consolation Game of the Lake Placid Tournament against Boston College on Monday, January 8 at 4:00 p.m.
