SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College volleyball team was defeated at Syracuse University on Friday evening, 3-0, in a BIG EAST Conference volleyball match. The Orangewomen won the match by game-scores of 15-6, 15-3 and 15-6.
The Friars (16-13 overall/2-7 BIG EAST Conference) were led by senior Heidi Filippi (Wooster, Ohio) who totalled 10 kills. Junior outside hitter Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) added nine kills and seven digs and classmate Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) who added seven kills and six digs.
Syracuse (22-9 overall/5-4 BIG EAST Conference) was never challenged in the match and totalled a very high hitting percentage of 0.392, with just eight hitting errors.
The Friars are in action again on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame.
