BOSTON (AP) - Troy Bell scored 9 of his game-high 28 points in the final 1:46 as Boston College overcame a late 10-point deficit to post a 67-62 win over Providence on Saturday.

Kenny Walls added 9 points for the Eagles (9-4, 1-0 Big East), who won the Big East opener despite shooting just 36 percent and committing 15 turnovers.

Karim Shabazz led the Friars (8-7, 1-1) with 15 points and Chris Rogers had 12. Providence, which committed 26 turnovers and shot only 44 percent, was looking to win its opening two league games for the first time since the 1988-89 season.

After Providence opened its 10-point lead on Romuald Augustin's free throw with 5:07 left, the Eagles scored the next 10 points to tie it at 57-all in Walls' second of two free throws with 2:45 remaining.

The Friars' Donta Wade hit a foul-line jumper before Bell nailed the first of his two 3-pointers 28 seconds apart, giving the Eagles a 63-62 edge with 1:18 to play. Bell's first 3-pointer was his initial basket in the second half.

After Bell's second three-pointer, the two teams combined for 5 turnovers before Xavier Singletary hit one free throw and Bell nailed two in the closing second to seal the win for the Eagles.

BC, which missed 12 of their first 13 shots to open the game, scored 8 of the final 10 points in the first half, but trailed 30-29 at intermission.
