PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The "Tim Welsh Era" at Providence College officially begins at midnight on Friday, October 16th when the new coach of the Friars and his 1998-99 squad celebrate "Late Night Madness" at Alumni Hall.
Welsh and his team will start the festivities in Peterson Recreation Center with the pre-Late Night Madness Dinner. The 1998-99 squad and coaching staff will be introduced to the Friars' faithful before heading out to the court at midnight. The dinner and cocktail hour will begin at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are available by calling Paul Deutsch at (401) 865-1967.
The real Late Night Madness Festivities will begin in Alumni Hall around 11:00 p.m. as the Providence College Student Congress will host games and other entertainment to get the crowd ready for midnight. The general public is welcome to attend this portion of the evening free of charge. The doors to Alumni Hall will open at 10:30 p.m. and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
At midnight, Tim Welsh will lead the Friars onto the court where his team will perform several drills including three-point shooting, a slam dunk competition and other skills tests. The Providence College women's team will also be introduced as Jim Jabir and his squad open the 1998-99 season. MEDIA ADVISORY: Tickets for the dinner are $40.00.
