Men's Basketball Intrasquad Scrimmage Kicks Off Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The three newest members of the Providence College basketball team played a major role in the White team's 87-80 win over the Black team in Providence College's annual Mal Brown Scrimmage held at PC's Alumni Hall.
Freshmen Sean Connolly (Peabody, Mass.) and Rahim Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) plus sophomore Jamaal Camah (Salem, Mass.) combined for 59 points as the White team made up mostly of freshmen and sophomores overcame a 34-29 halftime lead to pull out the win.
Connolly scored 24, Camah had 18 and Johnson had 17 to lead the way. Sophomore Erron Maxey (Elsinore, Cal.) had 15 and sophomore guard John Linehan added 11 to go with eight assists in the win.
All-BIG EAST and All-America candidate Jamel Thomas (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a game high 25 points and was joined in double figures by Justin Farley (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.) with 18, Llewellyn Cole (Jr., New York, N.Y.) with 14 and guards Corey Wright (Sr., New York, N.Y.) and Kendrick Moore (Sr., Hartford, Conn.) added 11 and 10 respectively in the loss. Wright dished off a game high nine assists while Johnson and Thomas each had six rebounds in the game.
The Friars head to the Providence Civic Center next Saturday, October 31 when they open the preseason against Team Fokus. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
