Friar Men and Women Run at Penn Relays

PENN RELAYS, Philadelphia, Pa. - April 22-23, 1999

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Providence College senior Sarah Dupre (Kingston, Ontario) placed third in the 3,000 meter college championship division race in a time of 9:24.63 at the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday, April 21 in Philadelphia, Pa.

For Dupre, a three-time All-American, it marks her highest finish ever at the Penn Relays. Last year, she placed fifth in the 5,000 meters at the Penn Relays. Joining Dupre in the 3,000 meters was teammate Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.), who finished 16th in a time of 9:42.58.

In the women's 4 x 1,500 meter college championship relay, the Friars finished 11th on Friday, April 22. Cappello, Dupre, junior Dana Ostrander (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and sophomore Stephanie O'Reilly (Wicklow, Ireland) all ran the 4 x 1,500 for PC.

On the men's side, junior Keith Kelly (Drogheda, Ireland) earned a 13th place finish in the 5,000 meter college championship division race. Kelly ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:15.04 on Thursday, April 21. In the men's 5,000 meter college division race, PC freshman Paul Reilly (Loughrea, Ireland) placed fifth (14:25).
