PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced on November 4 that four Providence College field hockey players earned BIG EAST accolades. Junior back Breanne Wojnarowicz (Holden, Mass.), senior Erica Hebert (Enfield, Conn.), sophomore Katie Willett (Biddeford, Maine) and freshman Lindsey Brooks (Brewster, N.Y.) all were honored at the annual BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Banquet in Syracuse, N.Y.
Wojnarowicz, one of the Friars' top defensive players, was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. It marks the first time she has received All-BIG EAST honors. This season, Wojnarowicz started all 19 games and recorded three defensive saves and 10 points (four goals, two assists). Breanne, a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, is the daughter of John and Kathleen Wojnarowicz.
Hebert, who led the team in scoring (31 points) and goals (13) this season, was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. It is the third consecutive season she has earned All-BIG EAST honors. Hebert finished her career at Providence ranked sixth all-time in scoring (106 points) and fourth all-time in goals (46). Erica, a graduate of Enfield High School, is the daughter of Gail and Paul Hebert.
Willett is the second Friar to earn 1999 All-BIG EAST Second Team honors. This season, the sophomore back started all 19 games and notched one assist and made one defensive save. In 1998, she was named to the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team. Katie, a graduate of Biddeford High School, is the daughter of Kathleen and Michael Willett.
Brooks, one of PC's top midfielders this season, was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team. In 1999, she played in 12 games and recorded one goal. Lyndsey, a graduate of Brewster High School, is the daughter of Kenneth and Carol Brooks.
Providence finished the season with a 7-12 mark and a 1-4 record in BIG EAST play.
