Shannon Catlin started at Providence College as an Academic Coordinator for Student Athletics and SAAC Advisor in August of 2018.
Catlin provides academic support for student-athletes at PC. This support includes monitoring academic progress and eligibility from matriculation to graduation. She also holds team and individual meetings that focus on effective study habits for long-term success. In addition, Catlin is responsible for preparing and distributing travel notifications, grade reports, and academic nominations.
In addition to her current responsibilities, serves as the co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and is a member of the Student-Athlete Development Team (SADT).
Before joining the Friars, Catlin worked at Hunter College in New York as the Student-Athlete Academic/Welfare advisor for seven years (2011-18). She also spent two years at Emerson College in Boston as Athletic Facility Coordinator and Equipment Manager (2008-10). Catlin started her career in Boston at Wheelock College. She served as Assistant Director of Athletics (2006-08), Recreation and Wellness Director and Head Field Hockey Coach (2005-08).
In 2003 Catlin graduated from Northeastern with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and minor in business administration. She also earned a masters of sports leadership degree in 2011 from Northeastern. Catlin played Field Hockey while at Northeastern for two seasons before knee surgery ended her career.
Catlin has furthered her career development through serving on committees, leading forums, and completing professional development and advancement.
Catlin and her husband have a daughter, Delancey. She is originally from Mansfield, Mass.
