At Deering: Team captain in swimming and lacrosse his senior year...Named MVP on Deering swimming in 2005-06...Awarded James 'Jay' Zerner Student Athlete Scholarship in 2006...Earned Herbert 'Skip' Charles Leadership Award in 2006...Member of the Southwestern Maine Championship swim team in 2003, 2004, and 2005...Member of the Deering High School swim team which had only two regular season meet losses in four years, including three undefeated years...Earned Honors or High Honors in every marking period.
Personal: Son of Kathy and Bob Hughes...Has one brother, Jimmy, who is a member of the University of New Hampshire Swimming and Diving team...Also has one sister, Sarah...Pre-engineering major.
