Marie McMahon (Ennistymon, Ireland)... McMahon finished second in the 5,000 meters (16:11.77) at the NCAA Indoor Track Championship and earned her 10th All-America honor. With 10 All-America honors, McMahon is tied with her former teammate and U.S. Olympian Amy Rudolph for tops in All-America accolades at Providence.
Sarah Dupre (Jr., Kingston, Ontario)...Dupre placed third in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track Championship in a time of 16:19.12. With her third-place finish, Dupre earned All-America accolades.

Spring Sports Update
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK... The Providence College women's track team competed at the NCAA Championship in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 13-14 and finished in 14th place with 14 points. Senior Marie McMahon (Ennistymon, Ireland) finished second in the 5,000 meters (16:11.77) and earned her 10th All-America honor. McMahon was followed by PC junior Sarah Dupre (Kingston, Ontario) who placed third in the 5,000 (16:19.12) and received All-America accolades. Providence senior Maria McCambridge competed in the 3,000 meters and finished 17th in a time of 10:12.27.
SOFTBALL (4-6)... The Providence Friars did not compete last week. The squad will travel to Boston University on Wednesday to take on the Terriers. The Friars then travel to the Winthrop Invitational next weekend.
MEN'S TENNIS (6-3)... In their only match last week, the Providence College Friars were defeated by Brown University, 5-2. Junior Dylan Williams of Middlesex, England (No. 2 singles) and senior Felipe Vivar of Los Cebios, Ecuador (No. 3 singles) each earned singles wins for the Friars. Williams and Vivar combined to record the Friars' lone doubles victory.
MEN'S HOCKEY (15-18-3, 9-13-2)... The Providence College Friars were defeated in two games by Boston College in a HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals best-of-three series at Chestnut Hill, Mass. On March 12, BC scored with four second remaining in the game to earn a 4-3 win. PC goals were scored by Frehsman Mike Farrell (Carmel, Ind.), junior Jon Coe (Anoka, Minn.) and sophomore Doug Sheppard (Georgetown, Ontario). Freshman Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) recorded 31 stops in the loss. The following night, BC defeated the Friars, 6-3. Sophomore Josh MacNevin (W. Lethbridge, Alberta), junior Mike Omicioli (W. Warwick, R.I.) and Coe all scored for PC. Ballard made 41 saves for the Friars.
MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK... The Providence College men's outdoor track team will open its season on March 27-28 at the Raleigh Relays.
WOMEN'S TENNIS (9-4)... The Friars did not compete last week. The team will return to action on March 26 against Boston University.
BASEBALL (12-5)... The Friars turned in a 5-1 week to close out the southern portion of the schedule. On Tuesday, March 10th PC downed Central Connecticut, 10-9, in the home opener at Hendricken Field. ANGELO CIMINIELLO (Jr. St. James, N.Y.) got the win in relief. Shortstop PAT CAREY (Sr., Stony Point, N.Y.) led PC with three hits and a pair of rbi's. KEITH REED's (So., Auburn, Mass.) eighth inning solo homer proved to be the game winning hit. On Friday, March 13th, the Friars manhandled Maryland-Eastern Shore, winning the game 36-2 in seven innings. PC had 25 hits, used 20 UMES walks and seven hitbatsmen on the way to a school record 36 runs. SCOTT FRIEDHOLM (Sr., Canton, Mass.) was 4-4 with five runs scored, a homerun and six rbi's. REED and infielder MIKE PANDOLFO (Sr., Westbrook, Conn.) each drove in five runs in the game. On Saturday, the Friars swept Coppin State in a doubleheader. The first game was 8-3, the second, 14-0 in five innings. Freshman MIKE STUART (Canton, Mass.) pitched six innings to get his second win. CIMINIELLO and REED homered with two rbi's each. In the nightcap, lefthander, DOUG WALL (Sr., Durham, Conn.) gave up one hit over five innings for a 14-0 victory. WALL gave up one hit in the game. On Sunday, PC dropped a 2-0 game to Maryland Baltimore County in game one. Starter Wayne Fowler alllowed just four hits for UMBC. PC's ROB CORRARO (Jr.,Madison, Conn.) took the loss giving up four hits. One of the hits was a two-run first inning homer to the Retrievers, Ryan Schnieder. In the second game, the Friars used a nine-run third inning to open a 10-3 lead. The Friars then overcame a pair of grand slams by UMBC's Mitch Davis to hold on for a 14-13 victory. This week, the Friars host Bryant and Rhode Island on Tuesday and Wednesday before opening the BIG EAST schedule with Notre Dame on Saturday. That doubleheader starts at 12:00 noon.
