Jill La Point Named Associate AD/Senior Women's Administrator

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Assistant Vice President for Athletics John M. Marinatto today announced the appointment of Jill M. La Point to the position of Associate Athletic Director/Senior Women's Administrator.
We are all very excited to have Jill join our athletic staff," Marinatto stated. "Jill's experience in athletic administration and her high energy level arm her with a unique blend of quality and enthusiasm which will be invaluable to our department."
La Point, a 1989 graduate of Lock Haven University, was an Assistant Athletic Director at Brown University for the past two years. While at Brown, she was the primary administrator for four Division I intercollegiate athletic programs, Director of the Club Sports and Intramural Programs as well as the Director of Physical Education and University Recreation Programs.
She began her career in athletics as the head field hockey coach at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania in 1992. While at Juniata, she was promoted to the post of Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator. La Point worked in those positions until 1998 when she became Brown's Assistant Athletic Director.
La Point will be responsible for administering and managing a variety of varsity sports programs and ultimately ensuring that they are run in a consistent fashion with institutional, NCAA and Conference policies. She also will assist in the overall administration of the department and provide input on such key matters as gender equity, student-athlete welfare, long-range planning and women's issues.
In 1992, La Point earned a master's degree in Exercise and Sport Studies at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
La Point is a native of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, and currently resides in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.
