Providence College Unveils New Mascot

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College will unveil its new athletic mascot at the men's ice hockey game against Merrimack on Friday, November 22, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena.
The new mascot was created by Sugar's Mascot Costumes of Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sugar's is a well-known studio and has created such familiar characters as Wally the Green Monster of the Boston Red Sox, Diamond and Ace Blue Jay for the Toronto Blue Jays, a polar bear called Carlton for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Snuggle fabric softener bear, and Superfrog for Texas Christian University.
The College's new athletic logo served as the basis for the new mascot. The Friar will be seen at all men's basketball games and at other Providence College sporting events.
