Gwendolyn Yarnall Finishes Tied For Fifth At St. John’s Women’s Invitational

Yarnall recorded her first-ever top-five finish and the highest position in program history.
HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Providence College women's golf team completed the St. John's Women's Invitational on Tuesday, April 7, at The St. Andrew's Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. The Friars placed tied for 11th overall with a team score of 699 (+131). Sophomore Gwendolyn Yarnall (East Aurora, N.Y.) led Providence, finishing tied for fifth with a score of 157 (+15). The result is Yarnall's best career finish and the top finish in Providence College women's golf history.

St. John's won the team title with a score of 630 (+62) over two rounds. Providence carded a 356 in the opening round and a 343 in the final round. Three individuals tied for first place with a score of 154 (+12).
After posting a first-round score of 79, Yarnall improved her position on the final day with a score of 78 to finish tied for fifth out of 71 golfers. The sophomore's previous best finish came at the Lady Dolphin Invitational on Oct. 21 (tied for eighth).
