A Statement From Providence College Athletics Director Robert G. Driscoll

Driscoll comments on the addition of five teams to the BIG EAST.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College Athletics Director Robert G. Driscoll made the following statement today regarding the addition of five institutions to the BIG EAST Conference:

"We are extremely excited about the recent announcement regarding the addition of Cincinnati, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette and South Florida to the BIG EAST Conference. We look forward to welcoming these five schools that will help solidify the BIG EAST as one of the top athletic conferences in the nation. While this is an exciting time for Providence College and the league, we face new challenges. With stiffer competition and a greater number of league opponents, the importance of our fund raising efforts become even more important. We will continue to improve all aspects of our department so that we can successfully compete in the 'new' BIG EAST."
