Providence Hires Senior Assistant Director of Sports Information

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College Director of Athletics John M. Marinatto announced today the hiring of Bob Rothwell as the Senior Assistant Director of Sports Information.

For the last three years Rothwell, 27, served as the Director of Athletic Communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. At FDU he was responsible for all public and media relations aspects in the running of FDU's 17-sport Division I Athletics Department.

Prior to joining FDU, Rothwell served as Assistant Sports Information Director at the College of William and Mary. At William and Mary, Rothwell handled all media relations duties for the Tribe's top-20 men's and women's soccer teams as well as handling women's basketball, volleyball, baseball and track and field. Rothwell coordinated the first and third rounds of the 1996 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament in Norfolk, Va., handling game-day and media management.

Before his arrival at W&M, Rothwell served as an intern in the Sports Publicity Office at Dartmouth College where he was responsible for men's hockey, women's soccer and softball. He also assisted with the Big Green football media relations duties and game-day operations.

A 1995 graduate from Providence College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in marketing, Rothwell served as a student assistant in the Friars' Office of Marketing, Promotions and Media Relations from 1991 through 1995.
