PC Student-Athletes Excel During Spring Semester

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College student-athletes had a strong spring semester in the classroom as 115 of the 314 student-athletes earned Dean's List honors. In order to qualify for the Dean's List, a student-athlete must earn a 3.25 grade point average and not get any grade lower than a C.

Ten of the 115 student-athletes that received Dean's List accolades earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Sophomore Mark Brady of North Providence, R.I. (lacrosse), freshman Matt Berk of Glencoe, Ill. (lacrosse), sophomore Marissa Colburn of Wethersfield, Conn. (women's track), senior Brian Evans of N. Branford, Conn. (men's soccer), Alain Frankiewicz of Houston, Texas (women's hockey), sophomore Kate Fuller of Staten Island, N.Y. (women's swimming), sophomore Kate Gall of Cumberland, Md. (women's track), senior Carrie Leoncavallo of Bellingham, Mass. (field hockey), junior Matt Libby of Saco, Maine (men's hockey) and senior Dana Ostrander of Ballston Lake, N.Y. (women's track) all earned a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.

The Providence College student-athletes have a history of academic success as 65 percent of the 314 athletes have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
