Carl LaBranche Promoted To Assistant Athletic Director For Facilities And Game Day Management

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College Athletic Director Robert G. Driscoll announced the promotion of Carl LaBranche to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Day Management. In his new position, LaBranche will be responsible for focusing on the new athletic facilities that are part of the College's master plan. He also will be responsible for game day management of the athletic contests and will serve as an administrator for several of the athletic teams.

LaBranche, a graduate of Central Connecticut, served as Providence's tennis coach for the last 16 seasons. In 16 seasons, he compiled a record of 197-137 as the coach of the Friar women's team. In the 15 seasons that he coached the PC men's tennis team, LaBranche posted a 239-106 mark. He also guided the Friar tennis teams to a combined nine New England titles. In 1988-89, his men's team produced a 23-1 mark and LaBranche was named New England Coach of the Year.

A native of Pawtucket, R.I., LaBranche served as Director of Facilities at the Mickey Stevens Sports Complex for eight years before coming to Providence College in 1987. Prior to working at the Mickey Stevens Sports Complex, he was the aquatics director at the Cumberland-Lincoln Boys Club from 1974-79.

For the last 26 years, LaBranche has resided in Cumberland, R.I. with his wife JoAnn. They have two children, Nicole and Kyle.
