Student-Athletes Speak At Local Schools
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- On April 28, May 4 and May 5, Providence College student-athletes visited three Providence schools as part of PC's Student Athlete Speakers Bureau under the College's NCAA Champs Life Skills Program. The student-athletes spoke to the children on a variety of topics, including the importance of staying in school, teamwork, the value of hard work and reaching your goals. The student-athletes also took part in a question and answer session with the children.

April 28, 2000 at Springfield Middle School
PC student-athletes Abby Charbonneau (women's basketball), Amy Drechsler (women's basketball), Matt Libby (men's hockey), Kevin Reeder (men's swimming), Caitlin Sampers (women's track) and Julie Tanguay (women's field hockey) spoke to the school's 7th-graders.
May 4, 2000 at Bishop McVinney School
PC student-athletes Bonnie Skrenta (softball) and Laura Whittaker (softball) spoke to the school's 5th-, 6th-, 7th- and 8th-graders who achieved academic honors. Skrenta and Whittaker also participated in a field day with the children.
May 5, 2000 at St. Patrick School
PC student-athletes Lee Barnum (women's swimming), Karen Cardwell (women's swimming), Jamie Lerch (field hockey), Kevin Reeder (men's swimming), Cameron Roller (men's lacrosse) and Caitlin Sampers (women's track) addressed the school's 5th-, 6th-, 7th- and 8th-graders.
