Providence College Ranked 42nd In NACDA Directors' Cup Standings

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College ranks 42nd in the Division I NACDA Directors' Cup standings with a total of 163.5 points. The Friars got a big lift in the standings, as 40.5 points were awarded to the College by virtue of the women's indoor track team's finish (32nd) at the NCAA Championship on March 15. The NACDA Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. Each national championship receives 100 points.
Currently, Providence is ranked fifth in the NACDA Directors' Cup standings among BIG EAST Conference schools. Notre Dame leads all BIG EAST schools in the standings with 397 points, and is ranked fourth overall, followed by Villanova (11th - 301.5 points), Miami (25th - 215.5 points) and Connecticut (40th - 171 points).
Stanford has accumulated a total of 584 points to earn the top ranking in the winter standings, followed by Penn State (2nd - 416.5 points) and Michigan (3rd - 402 points).
