ORONO, MAINE – The Providence College men's and women's and diving programs traveled to Orono, Maine to face the University of Maine in dual meet action on Saturday, Jan. 24. The men's team was defeated, 174-122. The women's team fell to the Black Bears, 180.5-119.5.
Both teams featured impressive performances on the day. The women's program recorded four first-place finishes during the competition.
Bella Lombard claimed victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.46.
Annie Gathof finished ahead of the field in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.19). She also finished second in the 200-yard fly (2:11.34). Jaclyn Stadler placed first in the 1-meter diving event (279.08 points) and finished second in the 3-meter diving competition (265.35 points). Fellow diver
Myranda Parker claimed first place in the 3-meter event (268.20 points).
On the men's side,
Aidan Puk placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.81) and the 500-yard free (4:51.78). He also competed on the Friars' 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished second (3:11.34). The Friars put together a winning combination in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with teammates
Jake Stachowicz,
Noah San Vicente,
Quinn Schwab and
Nathan Thayer. The group hit the wall first with a time of 3:11.30.

Providence College will return to action on Jan. 31 against Holy Cross. It will mark the program's final home meet of the season and the program will honor its senior class. Diving events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. and the swim events will begin at 1:00 p.m.
