Women’s Hockey Downs Sacred Heart, 6-1, In An Exhibition Game On Saturday

Four Friars record multi-point games.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated Sacred Heart University, 6-1, on Saturday, Sept. 27, in an exhibition game at Schneider Arena. Four Friars finished with multi-point games.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
  
- The Friars opened the scoring at 10:41 of the first period when freshman Molly Farace (Otonabee, Ontario) converted on a breakaway. Sophomores Cali Cerruti (Norwell, Mass.) and Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) collected assists.
 
- Less than three minutes later, senior Kayla Kutes (Kirkland, Wash.) doubled the Friars' lead on a wrist shot past Sacred Heart goaltender Jilian Petruno. Freshman Sami Snyder (Waterloo, Ontario) and junior Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) registered assists.
 
- On the power play early in the second period, Knapp scored to extend the lead to 3-0. Senior Sarah Davies (Mississauga, Ontario) picked up the helper.
 
- Four minutes later, freshman Izzy King (Bedford, Mass.) redirected a shot in front to make it 4-0. Sophomores Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) and Taylor Porthan (Edina, Minn.) earned the assists.
 
- Freshman Bella Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) added to the lead with a wrist shot from the blue line. Davies tallied her second assist of the game, while senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) added another.
 
- The Friars made it 6-0 in the third period when sophomore Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austria) scored. Cerruti notched her second assist of the game, and Farace added another to finish with a multi-point outing.
 
- Sacred Heart got on the board midway through the third period when Ella Holm scored, assisted by Julia Zielinska and Mia Wendell.
