PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced today (Feb. 11) that former Providence College men's soccer player
Cole Dewhurst '24 (Lancaster, Mass.) has signed his first professional contract with Rhode Island FC. Dewhurst will join the club for the 2025 season.
During his four years with the Friars, Dewhurst was a key contributor, appearing in 67 games and making 65 starts. He logged 5,678 minutes on the field, recording three goals and one assist. He helped guide Providence to four consecutive BIG EAST Tournament appearances and two NCAA Tournament runs in 2021 and 2024. The defender was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team in 2023.
Rhode Island FC competes in the USL Championship. In its inaugural season, the club made history by winning the East Division title and becoming the first Eastern Conference team to do so in its first season. RIFC went on to reach the USL Championship Final.
