PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated the University of New Hampshire, 5-1, on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Schneider Arena. The Friars improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Hockey East play, while the Wildcats dropped to 6-5-1 and 3-2-0. Nine different Friars recorded a point in the win. Freshman
Molly Farace (Otonabee, Ontario) recorded her first two collegiate points.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-The Wildcats opened the scoring at 18:35 of the first period off a faceoff win. Danika Botterill tallied the goal, assisted by Nina Rossi. It marked the second straight game New Hampshire scored first and the eighth time this season Providence allowed the opening goal.
-At 3:51 of the second period, sophomore
Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austria) scored unassisted on a breakaway to tie the game at one. It was Hofbauer's first goal of the season.
-The Friars took a 2-1 lead at 5:57 of the second period on a power-play goal from senior
Kayla Kutes (Kirkland, Wash.). Freshman
Molly Farace (Otonabee, Ontario) and junior
Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) were credited with assists. The goal marked Kutes' first of the season and second of her career.
-Providence extended its lead to 3-1 at 12:10 of the second period on a goal from senior
Sarah Davies (Mississauga, Ontario). Farace recorded her second assist of the afternoon on the play.
-Farace's two assists marked her first two career points and her first multi-point game.

Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) scored 52 seconds into the third period to make it 4-1. Sophomore
Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and senior
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) assisted on the goal. With the helper, Kirchmair extended her point streak to four games.
-Kraft sealed the victory with an unassisted empty-net goal at 18:58 of the third period. It was Kraft's first goal of the season and her second point of the game, marking her third career multi-point game.
-The Friars scored five or more goals for the second time this season, with the other coming in a 7-6 overtime win over No. 13/13 St. Thomas on Oct. 24.
-The win marked Providence's first Saturday victory of the season.
-Providence improved to 70-90-15 all-time against New Hampshire.
-With the win, Head Coach
Matt Kelly improved to 98-67-20 all-time in Hockey East play, two shy of the 100-win mark.
