Men's And Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Resume Competition At Holy Cross

The Friar men’s team was defeated 161.5-134.5; The women’s team was defeated, 188-111.

WORCESTER, MASS. – The Providence College men's and women's swimming & diving programs returned from their winter training trip in Puerto Rico and resumed dual-meet competition at Holy Cross on Jan. 18 in Worcester, Mass. The Friar men's team was defeated 161.5-134.5, while the women's team was defeated, 188-111.
 
The men's team claimed four first-place individual finishes at the meet and swept the two relay events. Alex Beauchene led the way with two individual victories in the 200-yard free (1:44.59) and the 100-yard free (47.36).
 
Lauren Wagner highlighted the women's competition, claiming two individual wins in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.20) and the 200-yard IM (2:12.21). The women's team have five second-place finishes in individual events and fielded teams that finished second in both relays.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 in their final home meet of the year against the University of Maine. Diving events will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the swim events at 1:00 p.m. The meet also serves as the backdrop for the program's senior day festivities.
