EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team defeated Merrimack, 5-2, on Saturday (April 6) at Centre Court in East Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 4-12 overall in dual match play during the 2024 spring season.
The Friars swept all three doubles matches to get out to a 1-0 lead. The duos of Liria Loria/Vannelie Melendez, Lauren Carson/Elisa Davalos and Erika Beltran/Camila Barrera all earned decisive victories. Merrimack claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches before the Friars closed out the match with four singles wins. Carson, Loria and Davalos all earned straight-set wins while Melendez battled to a hard-fought three-set victory.
The Friars return to action on Saturday (April 13) on the road at Holy Cross beginning at 12 p.m.
