PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team upset the No.19/18 Creighton Bluejays (16-7, 7-5 BIG EAST), 91-87, in an overtime thriller on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 15-8 overall and 6-6 in BIG EAST play.
Devin Carter (Miami, Fla.) registered his seventh double-double of the season on 28 points 11 rebounds. It marks the 10th double-double of his career.
Josh Oduro (Gainesville, Va.) added a game and season-high 32 points and 12 rebounds. Carter and Oduro combined for 60 points of the Friars' 91 points. Carter and Oduro are the first Friar teammates o record 25+ points and 10+ rebounds in the same game since Nov. 22, 1996 vs Alaska - Fairbanks: Jamel Thomas (29 PTS / 15 REB), Derrick Brown (29 PTS / 14 REB).

FIRST HALF:
•Oduro put the Friars on the scoreboard with a layup. He continued to add four more points for Providence. At the first media timeout (15:53 mark), Creighton led, 7-6.
•Oduro continued to spearhead the offense, landing his 11
th point with a three from the top of the key. At the 11:44 minute mark, Oduro reached double-digit scoring as the Friars trailed by one, 13-12.
•With 10:44 on the clock, Oduro drained a turnaround jumper to give the Friars their first lead of the game, 15-14.
•The game remained to be a back-and-forth match between the two teams, with five lead changes in the first 13 minutes. With 6:50 left to play, the score was tied at 18.
•Coming out of the under-8 timeout, the Bluejays went on a 9-0 run. At the 5:23 mark,
Jayden Pierre (Elizabeth, N.J.) flushed a three to end the Friars' 1:47 scoring drought.
Corey Floyd, Jr. (Franklin, N.J.) followed with another three to bringing the score to 27-24, with the Friars trailing.
•Carter scored a last-second layup to put the score within two for Providence at halftime, 33-31.
•Oduro accounted for 48.4% of the Friars' points in the first half.
•Providence shot 11-35 (31.4%) from the field, 5-15 (33.3%) from three, and 4-4 (100.0%) from the free-throw line.
•Creighton shot 13-29 (44.8%) from the field, 3-10 (30.0%) from three, and 4-4 (100.0%) from the free-throw line.
SECOND HALF:
•Carter opened the second-half scoring with two driving layups, regaining the lead for the Friars, 36-35.
•The game continued to be a battle with two more lead changes in the second half. At the first media timeout (16:30 mark), the Friars held a slim one-point lead, with the score at 47-46.
•With approximately 13:30 on the clock, Oduro sank an emphatic dunk to extend the Friars' lead to five, 53-48.
•Providence maintained the lead for over five minutes. With roughly 13 minutes on the clock, Creighton's Francisco Farabello scored a free throw to tie the score at 62.
Garwey Dual (Houston ,Texas) answered with a dunk on the following possession. At the 6:45 mark, the Friars led by two, 66-64.
•The score sat at an even 75 with less than a minute to play. Creighton's Steven Ashworth flushed a three to put the Bluejays ahead with 45 seconds remaining. Carter quickly responded with a three from deep (00:28 mark). With one second on the clock, the score was tied at 78.
•Neither team was able to convert in regulation play, sending the game into overtime.
•Providence shot 19-33 (57.6%) from the field, 4-9 (44.4%) from three, and 5-6 (83.3%) from the free-throw line.
•Creighton shot 17-28 (60.7%) from the field, 9-14 (64.3%) from three, and 2-2 (100.0%) from the free-throw line.
FIRST OVERTIME:
•
Ticket Gaines (Buffalo, N.Y.) drained a three at the 3:34 mark. The Bluejays followed with another three, 81-81.
•Creighton's Baylor Scheierman converted a layup off a PC turnover. With 2:42 left, Creighton led by two, 83-81.
•Carter scored a three from the corner (2:29 mark). Pierre extended the lead with a driving layup, 86-83.
•With a driving layup, Oduro made the game a two-point possession match, 84-88, with 35 seconds left to play.
•The Friars were able to extend their lead to end the game with a win, 91-87.
NOTES/HIGHLIGHTS:
•Providence finished 34-73 (46.6%) from the field, 11-26 (42.3%) from three and 12-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line.
•Creighton finished 33-65 (50.8%) from the field, 14-29 (48.3%) from three and 7-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
•Barron registered his first career start.
•Four Friars finished in double figures: Oduro (32), Carter (28), Pierre (10) and Floyd, Jr. (10).
•Bay Scheierman led the way for Creighton with 27 points (11-19 FG, 4-10 3P).
•There were 13 lead changes in the game.
•In 12 games, Carter leads the conference in scoring at 21.9 ppg. He also is fifth in rebounding (8.3 rpg). In overall play, Carter ranks second in the BIG EAST in scoring (19.0 ppg) and he is third in rebounding (8.0 rpg). He also is fifth in the league in three-point field goals made (56).
•The Friars are 14-1 when scoring 71 or more points.
