INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed on the opening day of the 2024 BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 28 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Day one was highlighted by
Ryan Sharp,
Kevin Hood,
Nathan Thayer and
Will Layden who teamed up in the 200-yard medley relay and set a school record with a time of 1:28.78. The team medaled in the event with a fourth-place finish. The previous record was set in 2022 by
McGovern Brown, Hood, Sharp and Layden with a time of 1:29.64.
The Friars return to IUPUI Natatorium for day two of the BIG EAST Championships on Thursday, Feb. 29.Â
