PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior goalkeeper Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) was selected in the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Friday, Dec. 20. Burns was drafted 74th overall in the third round by the Portland Timbers FC.
Burns concluded his collegiate career with the Friars after appearing in 73 games. He recorded over 220 saves and compiled a 34-18-15 career record, including 24 shutouts across 6,593 minutes of action. He was named Preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, and earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and All-BIG EAST Second Team. Burns also was recognized by College Soccer News as part of the National Team of the Week. He played a pivotal role in leading the team to two BIG EAST Championship Game appearances and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Most recently, Burns was one of 44 players selected to participate in the MLS College Showcase, held in San Diego, Calif.
