Kayla Briggs And Ella McBride Earn All-BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Awards

Kayla Briggs earned All-BIG EAST Honors for the second year in a row.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The BIG EAST announced its annual women's soccer awards today (Nov. 6). Providence College sophomore Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and junior Ella McBride (Peterborough, Canada) was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team.  

Prior to the start of the season, Briggs was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. This marks the second-consecutive year Briggs has earned BIG EAST postseason accolades. She was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team her freshman year in 2023. The sophomore started in all 12 games she played this season for the Friars providing a spark to the Providence offense. Briggs finished tied second on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. Briggs missed six games this season to participate on the Canadian U-20 national team in the 2024 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Briggs scored two goals and recorded one assist for team Canada. 

McBride has received BIG EAST post-season recognition two times during her time at Providence. In 2022, McBride was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. The junior played a pivotal role for the Friars at forward starting in all her 12 appearances for Providence. Briggs finished tied second on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. McBride also missed six games this season to participate on the Canadian U-20 national team in the 2024 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. McBride recorded one goal and two assists in the tournament.
