Jayden Pierre posted a career high 22 points for the Friars

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas - The Providence College men's basketball team was defeated by #14/15 Indiana Hoosiers (5-2), 89-73, in a non-conference game on Friday, Nov. 29 in Paradise Island, Bahamas. With the loss, the Friars dropped to 5-3 on the season. Jayden Pierre (Elizabeth, N.J.) led the Friars with a career-high 22 points, including five threes. Jabri Abdur-Rahim (South Orange, N.J.) and Corey Floyd Jr (Franklin, N.J.) each added 14 points for the Friars, and Pierre dished out six assists.

FIRST HALF:

• Indiana opened the game with back-to-back buckets before a Wesley Cardet (Tallahassee, Fla.) three got the Friars on the board.

• A Jayden Pierre pull up three gave Providence a 10-8 advantage at the first media timeout (15:45).

• Four straight points from Jabri Abdur-Rahim cut the Hoosier lead to 25-17 following an 11-1 Indiana run.

• A 9-2 Friar run trimmed the Indiana lead to five following a putback layup by Corey Floyd Jr at the under four timeout (2:48).

• Indiana led at the half 44-34

• Six Friars contributed to the scoring in the first half. Jayden Pierre led the way with 10 points, followed by Jabri Abdur-Rahim with nine.

• Mackenzie Mgbako led the Hoosiers in scoring with 13 followed by Malik Reneau with eight.

• Rebounds were tied 20-20 at the half

• Providence shot 12-33 (36.4%) from the field, 5-13 (38.5%) from three, and 5-6 (83.3%) from the free-throw line.

• Indiana shot 15-33 (45.5%) from the field, 4-8 (50.0%) from three and 10-10 (100%) from the free throw line.

SECOND HALF:

• Indiana opened the second half on a 13-4 run

• PC came out of the under 16 time-out scoring on 5 straight possessions to cut the Indiana lead to ten at 63-53.

• After a back-and-forth next few minutes, an Eli DeLaurier (Shipman, Va.) layup pulled the Friars within 10 at 73-64 (8:51).

• The Hoosiers pulled away, going on an 11-2 run to put the game out of reach.

• Indiana defeated Providence 89-73

• HIGHLIGHTS:

• Providence finished 25-64 (39.1%) from the field, 10-30 (33.3%) from three and 13-21 (61.9%) from the free throw line.

• Indiana finished 32-60 (53.3%) from the field, 8-15 (53.3%) from three and 17-20 (85.0%) from the free throw line.

• Three Friars finished in double figures: Jayden Pierre (22 points), Jabri Abdur-Rahim (14 points), and Corey Floyd Jr (14 points).

• Indiana outrebounded PC 38-36, including 18-16 in the second half

• Mackenzie Mgbako led the Indiana offense with 25 points.
