SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Nick Poisson, Trevor Connelly and Chase Yoder each recorded a goal and an assist as the No. 13 Providence College men's hockey team defeated Union, 4-1, in an exhibition game at Messa Rink in Schnectady, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 5.

- The Friars struck twice midway through the opening period to just out to a 2-0 lead.

- Nick Poisson re-directed a point shot from Alexander Bales at the bottom of the circles to give Providence a 1-0 lead at 8:11.

- Trevor Connelly finished off a strong net-drive by Chase Yoder just 54 seconds later to put Providence up 2-0.

- Union's Nate Hanley got the Garnet Chargers on the board just 51 seconds into the second period to cut the Friar lead to 2-1.

- Philip Svedebäck stopped all eight shots he faced in the first period and finished his outing stopping 10-of-11 overall in 29:29 of action.

- Connelly fed Chase Yoder on a one-timer across the slot to give Providence a two-goal lead again at 2:57 of the second period.

- Zachary Borgiel relieved Svedebäck and stopped four shots over the final 10:31 of the second period. He finished with seven saves overall in 29:31 of play.

- With Union serving a five-minute major in the third period, freshman John Mustard fired a point shot through traffic to give the Friars a 4-1 edge.
