Men’s Soccer Earns Two BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Vasco Teixeira was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Israel Neto earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Friars to two wins last week.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- It was announced today (Oct. 28) that Providence College men's soccer players Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal) and Israel Neto (Salvador, Brazil) each earned BIG EAST Weekly honors after helping the team to two road wins last week. Teixeira earned his first career BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor after assisting on the game-winning goal in the Friars' 2-1 win at UConn on October 23. Graduate Neto earned his first career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition after scoring a goal in each of the two games last week including the game-winner in the Friars' 1-0 victory over Villanova on October 26.

The Friars will close out regular-season conference play when they host the Xavier Musketeers (4-7-5, 1-4-2 BIG EAST) on Nov. 2. Kick-off will be at 2:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. Fans unable to attend can stream the game on the BIG EAST Network.
