Gruhn scored the game-winner at No. 20 Xavier.
New York, N.Y.—Providence College women's soccer sophomore, Marryn Gruhn (Northport, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Oct. 21. Providence went 1-1 last week with a loss to Georgetown, 1-0 and defeating No. 20 Xavier on the road, 2-1.
Gruhn scored the game-winning goal at Xavier for the Friars in the 72nd minute of the match. The sophomore's goal helped the Friars secure their first win versus a nationally ranked opponent since 2018 when the team defeated No. 15 Georgetown. Gruhn has scored two goals this season for the Friars, both of which are game-winning goals. She has played in all 15 games this season, totaling 387 minutes.
The Friars will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 24 when they travel to face Marquette at 8:00 PM (ET). The match will be played on Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis. The Golden Eagles currently hold a 4-10-3 overall record and are 1-5-1 in the BIG EAST. The match will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.
