PROVIDENCE, R.I. The USTFCCCA released its latest Regional and National Coaches' Poll on Oct 1. The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region and No. 9 in the nation. The Friar men's cross country team is ranked fourth in the Northeast Region.
The Providence College women's cross country team and the Friar men's cross country team competed at the University of Wisconsin's Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 27 in Madison, Wis. The Friar women finished fourth (180 points) out of 25 teams. The men finished 24th (654 points). The women's race featured 16 teams ranked in the top-30 in the national poll and the men's race had 16 teams ranked in the top-30 nationally.
The Friar women's team was led by senior
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand). May finished strong in fifth place with a time of 20:12.4. Friar graduate students
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) and
Alex Millard (Kent, England) placed 13th (20:25.8) and 19th (20:31.1), respectively. Senior
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) crossed the line in 58
th-place with a time of 21:05.3. Freshman
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the top five for the Friars, finishing 85th (21:20.1). A total of 190 runners finished the race.
For the men, the Friars were led by senior
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland), who finished 62nd (24:20.6). There was a total of 179 runners who finished the race.
The Friars will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. at the New England Championships in Hopkinton, N.H.
