Rich Barron Named BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week

Barron is the first Friar freshman to earn Freshman of the Week honors since 2018-19.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today (Jan. 22) that Providence College freshman guard Rich Barron (Chicago, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week on Monday, January 22.  Barron became the first Friar to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Week accolades since A.J. Reeves earned the honor in 2018-19.

Barron returned to his hometown and had a BIG EAST career high of 12 points on 4-5 shooting from the field, including 2-3 from three-point territory in the Friars' 100-62 win at DePaul on January 17.  For the season, Barron is shooting 14-29 (.483) from three-point territory.

The Friars (12-6, 3-4 BIG EAST) will return to action at Seton Hall on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
