Friars Cheerleading moving on up, little by little.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -  The Providence College cheerleading team placed fifth in the nation at the 2024 UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida on January 13-14. It marked the second time the Friars made it to finals, and secured the highest placement the cheer program has ever received.

The program goal, since first attending the competition back in 2019, had been to qualify for the Finals, which the Friars accomplished last year making history. This year the goal was to better themselves and execute the hardest routine the Providence College cheerleading team has ever performed.

After all the teams perform in the Semifinals, the judges determined the top 50% of teams in the divisions to move on to Finals. Those top teams then performed their routines again in Finals to determine placement.

This year, Providence College had an amazing performance during semifinals and was able to move on to compete in Small Coed Division 1 Finals. The team had another strong performance in Finals and was able to place 5th in the nation.

The team is excited to use the momentum from this nationals to propel them to continued improvement and success for the program.
