SPARKS, Md. – The USA Lacrosse Association released its 2024 Division I Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans today [January 17]. Providence College senior midfielder
Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) was recognized among the honorees as a Honorable Mention selection.
Chabra has put together an exceptional career with the Friars, tallying 64 goals and four assist. He finished the 2023 season ranked third on the team in scoring with 39 points on 37 goals and two assists. His 37 goals led the team and marked a career high. The junior recorded eight hat tricks and matched his career-high of five goals against St. John's on Apr. 29. He was two-time BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week last season. Chabra scored in 13 of the Friars' 15 games in 2023, including 10 multi-goal contests. He finished the regular season ranked fifth in the BIG EAST in goals per game (2.43). Additionally, he was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and Division I NEILA All-New England First Team. He also closed the season by earning USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention accolades.
The last Friar to earn Preseason All-American recognition was Toby Burgdorf, who was named to the 2021 USILA Preseason All-America team and the 2021 Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Preseason All-America squad.
