PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released its latest Regional and National Coaches' Poll on Sept. 19. The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region and 14
th in the nation. The Friar men's cross country team remains ranked fifth in the Northeast Region.
The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams were idle last week. In the Friars' last meet at the Friar Invitational in Attleboro, Mass. on Sept. 8, the Friar women finished first out of four teams after scoring 25 points.
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) led the Friar women, winning the race in a time of 13:56.2. The men finished second of six teams (67 points), led by
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland), who finished first in a time of 18:03.6.
The Friar men's and women's teams will return to action on Saturday, September 23 at the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, VA beginning at 8:45 a.m. The women's race features nine teams ranked in the top-15 in the latest national poll and the men's race has eight teams ranked in the top-15 nationally.
