Katie Burt Named Assistant Coach Of Women’s Hockey Program

Burt spent the previous two seasons playing in the Premier Hockey Federation.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's ice hockey coach Matt Kelly announced today (Sept. 11) that Katie Burt will be joining the Friars' staff as an assistant coach. 
 
Burt spent the last two years playing in the Premier Hockey Federation for the Boston Pride (2021-22) and Metropolitan Riveters (2022-23). She was the number one overall selection in the 2017 National Women's Hockey League Draft. 
 
During the 2021-22 season, Burt posted a 1.41 goals against average, .958 save percentage and a 7-4-0 record. Last season, she recorded a 2.78 goals against average, .903 save percentage and a 5-5-0 record. 
 
A 2018 graduate of Boston College, Burt graduated having played 146 games of which she had 121 wins and 3,180 saves. During the 2017-18 season, she was third in the nation with a career-high 2,305:23 minutes played. Burt finished 30-5-3 on the season, placing her third in national rankings for wins. As a sophomore, she became the youngest and fastest player in the women's college hockey history to reach 50 career wins and led Boston College to its first-ever national championship game and a program-record 40 wins. 
 
"I'm truly blessed to have Katie joining the Friar family," Kelly said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge to our program from her very decorated playing career. She's been a winner everywhere she's been. Her passion and love of the game are second to none."
