PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Tuesday, Sept. 12 that Providence College juniors
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) and
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) were named BIG EAST Cross Country Male and Female Athlete of the Week. Laadjel and May earned the honor after winning their respective races at the Friar Invitational in Attleboro, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 8.
May earned the cross country honor after leading the Friar women to a first-place finish at the Friar Invitational. May won the 4k race in in a time of 13:56.2.
Laadjel earned the BIG EAST honor after helping the Friar men finish second overall. The junior kept pace among the top runners and finished the 6k run in first place in a time of 18:03.6.
The Friar men's and women's teams will return to action on Saturday, September 23 at the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, VA beginning at 9:00 a.m.
