PROVIDENCE, R.I.–Providence College runners
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) and
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) will compete for Ireland in the U23 race at the European Cross Country Championships on Dec. 10 in Brussels, Belgium.
Laadjel and Morgan had successful cross country performances during the 2023 season. At the University of Virginia Invitational, Laadjel placed 60th overall (24:04.3) and Morgan followed in 66th (24:09.8). Laadjel and Morgan then placed ninth and 11th, respectively, at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship. At the NCAA Northeast Regionals, Morgan placed sixth (29:51) and Laddjel placed ninth (29:55). Their performances at regionals qualified them for the NCAA Cross Country Championship where Morgan placed 99th (30:33.1) and Laadjel finished 106th (30:35.9).
Former Friar Hugh Armstrong '17 will compete in the senior race and incoming freshman Anna Gardiner will run in the U20 race.
