PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College volleyball Head Coach
Margot Royer-Johnson announced today, November 8 Audrey Kocon and Sophia Adkins each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence beginning in the fall of 2023 and compete as members of the Friars' volleyball program.
Audrey Kocon is a 6'2" right-side hitter and setter from Arden Hills, Minn. Kocon plays for Mounds View High School, where she is the varsity captain and has recorded 1,000 career kills. She is a four-time SEC All-Conference honoree and a two-time Class AAAA All-State.
"Audrey will fit into the BIG EAST Conference and our squad perfectly," Royer-Johnson said "She is a highly skilled setter and right-side hitter with great location and release on her sets. She puts up a strong block as well. Most importantly, she is a great teammate and a student athlete that loves the game and strives to get better every day. We are so happy she chose PC. She will make a difference for us on the court right away."
Sophia Adkins is a 6'0" outside hitter from Cincinnati, Ohio. Adkins plays for Mercy McAuley High School, where she is the varsity captain and helped lead her team to two district championships (2022 and 2023) and a regional championship (2023). She was a 2023 AVCA All-America nominee and named to the All-Ohio Second Team. She currently holds the record at Mercy McAuley High School for career kills, with 906.
"Sophia is a strong and effective hitter on both pins," Royer-Johnson said "She will also help us on the block tremendously and her heavy arm swing will make a big impact for us right away. Her size on the pins will be an asset at this level and we could not be happier to have her on board. Sophia fits into our Friar Family in every way as a student, an athlete and a person."
