Women’s Hockey Loses To UConn, 6-1

KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the lone goal for the Friars.

STORRS, Conn. – The Providence College women's hockey team lost to the UConn Huskies, 6-1, on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the lone goal for the Friars.

-UConn struck first when Kyla Josifovic scored 7:52 into the first period. Coryn Tormala was credited with the assist. 

-Brooke Campbell converted on a power play at 12:41 to put UConn ahead 2-0. Kyla Josifovic assisted the goal.

-UConn went up 3-0 at the 16:48 mark of the first period when Coryn Tormala scored.

-Alexa Pongo scored for the Huskies, 4-0, at 12:45 in the second period.

-One minute later, Coryn Tormala netted a goal for the Huskies (5-0).

-KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the lone goal for the Friars with two minutes left in the second period (5-1). Grace Shirley (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) was credited with the assist.

-With one minute left in regulation, UConn's Riley Grimley scored with help from Emma Eryou to make the final score 6-1.


-Providence goaltenders Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) finished the day with 7 saves while Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) finished with 14 saves.
