PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association released its academic awards on Thursday, Jan. 26. The Providence College men's and women's cross country programs each earned 2022 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Academic Team Awards. Four Friars were also recognized individually as USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honorees.
In order to be considered, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. The men's cross country program posted a 3.43 team GPA and the women's program checked in with a 3.5 team GPA.
Individually, graduate student
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) claimed USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolades as a member of the Providence College men's cross country team.
The Providence College women's cross country team included three honorees, graduate student
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland.), senior
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada), and junior
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England).
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
