NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The No. 14/15 Providence College men's hockey team split their two-game road series at No. 10 Merrimack after the Warriors' 3-0 win on Saturday night (Jan. 14).

- The teams played an even opening period until Merrimack broke the ice with 1:15 remaining on a goal by Trevor Griebel.
- Hugo Ollas kept the Friars at bay during a scoreless second period as Providence couldn't convert on either power play opportunity.
- Mac Welsher gave Merrimack at 2-0 with 9:13 to play in the third period as he fired a shot off the crossbar and in after he trailed the play and found a loose puck.
- Alex Jeffries added an empty-net goal with 17 seconds remaining to account for the final scoring.
- The Friars attempted 72 shots, landing 35 on goal.
- Providence suffered their second shutout in the last four games.
