PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College field hockey student-athletes
Ally DeCoste (Braintree, Mass.) and
Asia Porter (Somerset, Mass.) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 27.
DeCoste tallied three points for the Friars in a 4-0 victory over Georgetown in Providence's only game last week. She notched the first goal of the game, which proved to be the game winner, just 1:21 into match. DeCoste picked up an assist on the Friars' fourth goal of the afternoon. Through two conference games, DeCoste leads the league in points (eight), points per game (4.0), goals (three) and goals per game (1.5).
Porter earned her first shut-out victory of the season in a 4-0 victory over Georgetown last week. She made four saves in the game, and also recorded a save on a penalty stroke early in the third quarter to maintain the clean sheet. Porter has been featured on the league's weekly honor roll each of the last two weeks.
The Friars (4-5, 2-0 BIG EAST) will return to action with a pair of home games at Lennon Family Field this weekend. On Friday, Sept. 30, Providence welcomes BIG EAST foe and ninth-ranked Connecticut to town at 4:00 p.m. The Friars close the weekend with a non-conference match against Holy Cross on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
