NOTES
- The first 20 minutes ended scoreless but physical play dominated the period. Providence held a 9-6 advantage in shots.
- Max Crozier broke the ice 47 seconds into the second period and converted on the Friars' brief power play opportunity for his sixth goal of the season. Nick Poisson chipped a puck to Parker Ford who fed Crozier for a one-timer from the top of the left circle.
- The Providence lead was short-lived as John Spetz's point shot beat Stauber through a screen just 1:11 later.
- The teams combined for seven penalties in the second period as the Friars successfully killed off two separate 5-on-3 chances for the Huskies.
- UConn appeared to take a lead with a shorthanded goal from Jachym Kondelik, but the goal was waived off due to goaltender interference after a Providence coaches challenge.
- The teams traded chances in the third period, but it was UConn's Ryan Tverberg who netted the game-winning goal at 15:43.
- Stauber was pulled for the extra attacker but the Friars couldn't find the equalizer as the buzzer sounded.
- The Friars lost for the first time at the XL Center against the Huskies (4-1-2).
