EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Providence College Friars concluded the final day of competition at the 2022 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
Among the many highlights of the final day,
Justin Viotto claimed a silver medal with a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. He lowered his own school-record in the event, during the final swim of his Providence career, with a time of 1:48.06.
Will Layden had another solid performance, this time breaking his own school-record in the 100-yard freestyle, to finish sixth (45.14).
The men's 400-yard relay team comprised of
Alex Beauchene,
Brian Cantin,
Ryan Sharp and Layden picked up fourth place in another school-record setting performance (3:02.66).
Kevin Hood tied the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:05.92. His finish was good for 12th place.
On the women's side,
Sally Alrutz grabbed 10th place in the 200-yard backstroke, breaking her own school record with a time of 2:00.74.
